The Contact Imprint formed on a Flat, Hard Surface

Photographs showing how the model was laid with his back flat against the floor, of the model after painting and after the shroud was removed, and of the Image Formed.

Paint was applied to the upper part of the penis, the upper part of the scrotum and to the public hair.

When the cloth was removed the model was rephotographed to record where the paint had been removed by the contact of the cloth.

Paint had been absorbed by the cloth from the upper part of the penis but not from the scrotum or from the pubic hair.

This test shows that if the image on the shroud was formed by the body of a naked man lying flat on a hard stone surface then there must be an imprint from the penis. The perspective experiments have already shown that the only way to reproduce the elongation of the arms is for the body to be bent, by the head being supported on pillows.

The obvious next question is "What effect would bending the body have on the contact print of the model's penis?"
