The Contact Imprint formed on a Soft Bed with the Head Supported by Pillows

Photographs of the model lying on the pillows, showing the change in perspctive, then after painting, again after the shroud was removed, and finally of the Image Formed.

The Model was laid on a soft mattrass with his head on two pillows to produce a bend in the centre of his body. This method is fully described in the section on the Experiment to Test Perspective Distortion.

This time a copious amount of paint was applied to the upper part of the penis and the pubic hair.

When the cloth was removed the model was rephotographed to record where the paint had been removed by the contact of the cloth.

This time no paint had been absorbed by the cloth from the upper part of the penis, the scrotum or the pubic hair.

This test shows that if the image on the shroud was formed by the body of a naked man lying on a soft bed with his head supported on pillows then there would be no trace of an imprint from the penis. The imprint of the hands and arms, which are now the same length as those on the Turin shroud, can be seen clearly.

This experiment came to the same conclusion as the perspective distortion test, and shows that the image on the shroud is consistant with being created by a body lying on a soft bed with pillows under the head.
