Thom’s Megalithic Yard
Thom spent his retirement from Oxford surveying and studying megalithic sites.
He analysed measurements from four hundred sites in Britain and France.
He found that a unit of 2.72 feet was in common use, with up to 30% of sites also using a half yard unit of 1.36 feet.
